Cut flowers bring instant beauty into any space, but without proper care, their charm fades quickly. Here are some easy tips to help you enjoy your bouquet for as long as possible:

1. Trim the Stems

Cut 1–2 inches off the stems at a 45-degree angle before placing them in water. This increases water absorption. Re-trim every 2–3 days.

2. Use Clean Vases

Bacteria is the enemy of fresh flowers. Always use a clean vase and change the water every two days.

3. Add Flower Food

Most bouquets come with a packet of flower food. Use it! It contains essential nutrients and antibacterial agents. If you don’t have any, mix 1 teaspoon of sugar and a few drops of bleach into the water.

4. Remove Leaves Below Water Line

Leaves submerged in water rot quickly, causing bacteria growth. Strip them off to keep the water fresh.

5. Keep Them Cool

Avoid placing flowers in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or close to ripening fruits (which emit ethylene gas that speeds up wilting).

With just a little extra attention, your flowers can stay vibrant and lovely for over a week. Treat your blooms well—they’re worth it!
